Hi Jason: DIRMAINT provides two valuable functions: 1. automated directory management 2. storage management primatives
In combination with DATAMOVE disks can be automatically formatted, files copied on change of size, etc. With gerrymandering of a DATAMOVE exit with some simple controls linux disks can be copied. DIRMAINT is a primitive storage manager - it can protect you from clobbering space, let you add space, and create volume ranges for extent allocations. It's directory management interface is OK, not great, but OK. DIRMAINT is functional, a lot better than manual directory management. Although it is tired it is certainly a product that can be revitalized with some neat interfaces available in the VMSERVE service machine and associated library - could be drawn up with a nice web interface via this library David Kreuter ----Original Message----- From: Jason Herne [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 22, 2004 4:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Use of DIrmaint Hello all, I represent a team of people working on a project to help make z/VM easier to administer. One of our current problems is whether or not to make use of Dirmaint. We would like to get a feel for how many people like/use Dirmaint. If everyone could please respond and let me know if you use or do not use Dirmaint (and why) I would greatly appreciate it, thank you. - Jason Herne ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
