Be aware that with SLES8 SuSEconfig reorders and rearranges the symlinks in boot.d and rc*.d directories. If you make a boot script in /etc/init.d you should consider to prepare the comment lines after the skeleton that's there, so that your script will not be called out of order next time SuSEconfig is invoked.
