Larry,

Yes, that looks fine.  Understand that the "-l root" parameter is optional,
and essentially allows you to use "label=" in /etc/fstab, but not much else.
I don't think it will show up anywhere else.

I know I need to use dasdfmt and I think this is the format of the command

dasdfmt -l root -b 4096 -d cdl -f /dev/dasdc
