Does anything look interesting in your /var/log/cups/error_log?  If you
don't see anything out of the ordinary, you might want to change the
loglevel in cupsd.conf to debug or maybe even debug2 and try again.
What changes have you made to your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf?  These paths
may vary, but are usually pretty consistent.  Signal 11 is a
segmentation fault, kind of like an OC4 abend.
