We have been experiencing some weird problems in our DB2/UDB linux guest
and we think that creating memory dumps when the problem is occuring may
help shed some light on the problem (i.e. trying to figure out what sql
queries were executing at the time of the problem).. I have found
reference in google to using the lkcd package to do this but it appears
that I need to patch the linux kernel to enable these features. Is there
any other way to get a memory dump on request (preferably non disruptive,
but I know I can't have everything) that doesn't require a special kernel
build. This is a production image, so we try to stay on SuSE supplied
code as much as is humanly possible. (SLES7 patchcd1 + maintenance) . I
thought maybe I could do something with the /proc/kcore file or something
but wasn't sure what to do with it.

Thanks in advance!
Jeremy
