But doing it in your z/OS Test LPAR is maybe not a very good idea if that has free access to your z/OS production disks. I know you can identify the disks by address and when you're careful nothing should happen, but if someone wipes out an MVS pack we may be able to tell what the outcome of your proof of concept is. You should be able to define another LPAR to use the resources freed by bringing down the z/OS Test system and restrict that Linux LPAR to only the devices that it is supposed to have. If you're not able to get an extra LPAR in the IOCDS then at least restrict it from the LPAR definition.
