He created the University of Waterloo VM Software distribution library and founded the popular VM Workshop. >From 1981 to 1997, Romney was engaged in private enterprise, founding four VM-based software companies. In 1997, he joined the IBM VM Development organization in Endicott, NY, where he is currently employed. When Linux for S/390 first emerged within IBM, Romney and some of his VM colleagues were instrumental in bringing to the fore the potential contribution of VM to a Linux environment.
