First, make sure that the volume being backed up is __NOT__ mounted to Linux. If it is, then the backup is likely to be junk. Second, make sure to use the ALLEXCP and ALLDATA(*) parameters in DFDSS, otherwise it may not back up the entire "dataset" (aka partition aka filesystem).
