Looks OK so far, assuming your software is going into /opt and/or /usr/local/bin is a symlink to somewhere in /opt. A separate writable /etc for each guest would also probably be a good idea -- that's where all the individual system-specific stuff is supposed to be.
Does /home need to be the same throughout the complex (eg user has same home directory everywhere)? Bill's method is quite elegant, and works well in large farms. I think he covers the topic rather well.
