For me, sharing DASD saves time. Not always, but often. But to do it, I have to consciously keep things in a mold where /usr or /opt (or whatever) is static and all players know it's static. The biggest problem is poorly packaged packages and package manager programs which are cluless about sharing. Dave mentioned one or two poorly packaged packages. Regarding the package managers, they should have the smarts to check, "Oh! That file is already there, AND IT'S THE SAME, so I'll silently ignore the fact that I cannot re-write it.". -- R; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
