EXCELLENT point and one that I often wrestled with for OpenVM. The virtual machine, presumably using its virtual console, gets its input from one of three models: ye olde 3215, the virtual "system console", or 3270 (DIAG 58 or SSCH). It could be argued that 3215 and VINPUT are sufficient for most of what is initiated via SSH. The idea is that if you then want something more interactive (over the SSH link) you'd do that through a proxied X connection. Of course ... none of this has ever been coded, that I know of. But ... shucks! ... OpenVM absolutely *cried* for such a connection. -- R; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
