Do we really need to beat this dead horse again? Tivoli's not interested in discussing it, and at this point, there's little to nothing we can do about the decision. Let's move on to creating a solution to the problem, not bemoaning past idiocy. Tivoli's generated plenty of enemies with their decision -- it's probably best to leave them with the consequences of their actions and maybe they'll buy a clue next time. Or fail miserably and be driven out of the backup solution marketplace (as it's pretty clear is already happening). Veritas works just fine.
That said, Amanda also works fine on RH for zSeries, and with the UTS Global tape drivers, it's silo and FICON friendly. The UTS tape drivers are reasonably priced, and well supported, and we (SNA) offer commercial support for Amanda.
