The version of Java is the same (1.4.1, same build) that websphere is
using. However, on the system where the JIT is* working, we also have Java
1.3.1 installed for 'everything else', whereas on the system the JIT isn't
working, we just set JAVA_HOME to /opt/java and set a symlink to
/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java/

So on the system where the JIT is working, we have /opt/java pointing to
java -> /opt/IBMJava2-s390-131//, but WAS is using the java that the WAS
install laid down which is a 1.41

and on the 'new' system it points to: java ->
/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java/

IBM was able to duplicate this in the lab, and we have a PMR open. I'm just
trying to explain it on 2 systems that should otherwise be identical.

Is the version of Java the same between the two? Earlier versions of the
IBM JDK didn't have the JIT.

I am in the process of making our first production Linux Guest for WAS 5.1.
Went through all the steps to install and go to network deployment mode and
we noticed that under the new guest WAS starts up saying the JIT is
disabled, but on our test guest, the JIT is enabled.

I do not recall an option to turn this on... and neither does our websphere
person.

So what did we miss?
