It sounds like you are specifying a file name incorrectly, or the files don't exist in the current directory. Make sure all of the files referenced do exist, and are in the current directory. I have vague memories of this being a fairly common problem with the SLES7 install routines.

Hi all... I was helping do a SLES 7 under VM install by phone, and at the very end of the install we got a SILO error. Something close to: silo.c(line:280) 'stat(name,&dst)' returned 2 'no such file' Since there was no choice in the Yast menues, we let the install continue to completion (timezone, network, etc.). Then I tried to go back and run silo -- without much luck... I searched the web and didn't find anything noteworthy, except a post by Mark Post spelling out the syntax for silo. So I mounted the root filesystem on /mnt (since the running system was still using the ram disk), and did: chroot /mnt cd /root silo -d /dev/dasda -b ipleckd.boot -B boot.map -f image -t2 Yet each time I got the same error as before.... By this time the person at the other end had to go, and they were going to IPL the system over the weekend anyhow, so we confirmed what I suspected -- no IPL text. So when he's back there next week, I figure we can boot from the VM reader again, mount the /dev/dasda1 filesystem and not loose everything. But... - Has anyone seen this before? - Anyone have some insight on how to get silo to run properly? Thanks for any thoughts....
