I just performed a SLES9 install via Samba and everything worked great. My setup was a little different than yours though. I have the CD drive on my Linux workstation shared with Samba. Try that method from your Windows server. Sounds like the installer can't find the media.1 directory though. I've never had much luck following SuSE's instructions for setting up the proper directory structure for network installs. I've always had to search for instructions from third parties who suffered through the setup before. That might be you in this case. Do the rest of us a favor and document everything you do to get this working.
