It's not as hard as you're trying to make it. The system knows what
architecture it's running on, so you don't need to specify that anywhere.

Subject: how to recompiling linux kernel

hi all,

I have downloaded kernel 2.6.5 and applied in sequence all the patch to
create
a complete linux kernel source for s390.
Well, I run menuconfig but I don't understand where I must specify my
subarchitecture... (under "Subarchitecture Type" menu where is no s390 or
similar...)
Where can I find one manual/paper/howto can me explain what to do?

thanks,
