This is ok - as long as you get RUNNING in the bottom right corner your
Linux is doing things...

This was bad. #CP I CMS means load CMS into memory and start running it.
This overlays the Linux system that was running and doing your install.
Once you do that, you can't go back. You have to restart the install from
scratch.

A better idea to check if it's running is to do a #CP D PSW to display the
psw. Do that several times and you can see if the processor is running
things or sitting in a tight loop somewhere. To check the disks without
trashing the Linux image, a #CP Q DASD will show you all the disk attached
to your guest.

Subject
SLES 9 - dropping connection during install

SuSE 9 dropped vnc/ssh connection part way through the install. I finished
the parallel disk format from the vnc (view browser). On the z/VM screen
for LINTEST (my first linux gust) I saw the holding message. I hit clear a
couple of times and then wanted to check the disks. Did a "#cp i cms " and
then a "q disk". But did not know how to get back to the SuSE install.
Meanwhile I lost the ssh/vnc connection.

Should I start all over again? The RAM disk loading took a while. I am
anxious to avoid repeat delays.

Thanks folks
