The basic idea when using logical volumes instead of phyical ones it that
you can create volumes based
on your storage requirements instead of creating them based on the size of
your hard drives. This makes
it irrelevant which data is stored where, therefore I see no need to check
how much free disk space is
left on which physical volume.

Why do you want to figure that?
