A nice sanity check you can preform from you're existing image is run
a #showmount -e laptop(ip or name)
showmount is in /sbin or /usr/sbin.
This queries an existing nfs server about the exact directories
served and the permissions (ro/rw, which machines are allowed to use
it) they're serving.
