Or finding a more efficient help disk application... Have you compiled /
assembled the existing application to
fit your existing Linux distribution under z/VM???

Ralph,

Have you considered simply upgrading your z800 in order to obtain
sufficient capacity to support the help desk application?

Ok, no problem...

Our setup is z800, shark dasd, windows servers, and linux x86 servers,
On the z800 we have z/vm with vse and linux under vm..
The z800 is an a01..80mip box

The z800 is not fast enough to run our helpdesk application.. Which is a Perl desk sourceforge.net free program..

We need to move the linux under vm to an x86 platform...not only move
the current
System but for new applications also.. I don't want to have to buy a
large internal dasd for my linux server for one thing I need about 400gb
for a mysql application..
Just easier to setup on shark...

How do I get access to the shark from the x86.. On windows I just map a
drive
To the shark.. I have an internal 90gb hard drive on my windows box but
I want to map a 300gb drive on the shark... No problem...... How do I do
the same thing with linux on x86

Hope I have explained best I can
Anything else just ask..

Thanks for all your help

Ralph

With all these one-line questions you're asking, I don't
think anyone has a good idea exactly what you're thinking
about trying. I don't, at least. To improve the chances of
getting a useful answer, you might want to elaborate a bit on
the setup you're envisioning.
