Unfortunately, despite of intensive QA testing prior the release, the current maintenance update kernel seems to break the initialization of guest lan interfaces in some cases. Our kernel guys are aware of it and will create a new kernel package as soon as possible. The current update has been withdrawn from YaST Online Update and we've added a notice to the portal article to minimize the effects. Thus, please use this kernel only if you really need the fixes included and only if you do not use guest lan. For those who already have installed this kernel and find themselves without network connectivity, please re-install the previous kernel: 64-bit mode: http://sdb.suse.de/en/psdb/html/621e7c859352b22997743fc286559c71.html 31-bit mode: http://sdb.suse.com/en/psdb/html/985c3bf47421fb88a4aff663f68943a7.html Instructions on how to use the installation system as a rescue system: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/en/2003/05/jreuter_s390_rescue_sles8.html You might need to do the following to successfully downgrade the kernel RPM (as rpm -U won't let you install an older package and rpm -i would not remove an previously installed kernel): rpm -e k_deflt-2.4.21-266 rpm -ihv k_deflt-2.4.21-261.s390.rpm # (or k_deflt-2.4.21-261.s390x.rpm) mkinitrd zipl Regards, Joerg -- SUSE LINUX Tel: +49-180-5003612 Maxfeldstr. 5 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 90409 Nuernberg WWW: http://www.novell.com/linux/ Germany ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
