I think Adam holds the bragging rights to being the first one to run Doom or Quake on S/390 under linux. As best as I remember, response time was an issue. Steve G.
Quake (on an obviously unaccelerated framebuffer X-session) was unplayable, although when linked against aalib did show me the menu screen in a reasonable time. Doom ran at about i386 speeds on a 16MB guest on Princeton's G3, which was playable although not terrific. I briefly entertained the notion of running it on Linux/390 on my P/390 and under OS/2 on the same box and having Schizoid Deathmatch, but I never did.
I did not, however, ever run a quakeserver.
I have, though, run Atari 2600 Pitfall!, arcade Galaga, NT, and MacOS 7.6 on various emulators on various S/390 machines.
