Final Meeting Agenda:

9:00 AM Using z/VM in a SCSI Environment

This session will provide an overview of the new z/VM native support for
SCSI disks and how it can be used to install, IPL, and run your z/VM system
in a SCSI-only environment.

z/VM V5.1 supports SCSI FCP disk logical units (SCSI disks) for both system
and guest use. SCSI disks can also be used as emulated 9336 Model 20 FBA
disks. Guests that support FBA disks (such as CMS, GCS, and VSE) also can
use SCSI disks through the emulated-FBA support, without requiring their
own SCSI support. VM's SCSI support allows a Linux server farm to be
deployed on z/VM in a configuration that includes only SCSI disks. ECKD
disks are no longer required. Installation of z/VM from DVD to a SCSI disk,
IPL from a SCSI disk using SAPL and z/VM system dumps to a SCSI disk are
supported. DDR services using SCSI disks are supported when DDR is running
under CMS.

The speaker will be Mr. Steve Wilkins of the IBM Corporation.

10:30 AM Coffee Break

11:00 AM z/VM Device Support Overview

The speaker will provide an overview of current device support available on
z/VM 5.1.0. This presentation will cover Channel, Disk, Tape, and OSA
technologies available for VM system I/O and guest operating systems
running under z/VM. This presentation is well suited for an audience new to
z/VM.

The speaker will be Mr. Steve Wilkins of the IBM Corporation.

12:30 PM Lunch Break

1:30 PM Administration and Vendor Announcements

1:45 PM Linux Update

The speaker will present a brief update of recent developments in the Linux
under z/VM area.

The speaker will be Mr. James Savoie of the IBM Corporation.

2:00 PM Hidden Gems in VM: Great Tools You Never Knew You Had

Did you know that there are disks containing sample code that are included
with your z/VM or VM/ESA installation?

These disks contain useful tools and utilities that are often overlooked.
Jim will reveal these gems to you in this presentation which was voted
"best session" at Share.

The speaker will be Mr. James Vincent of Nationwide Insurance.

3:15 PM Coffee Break

3:30 PM Technical Overview of FLEX-ES / zFrames

FLEX-ES and the zFrame family offer an attractive low-end S/390 and zSeries
alternative for many customers. The speaker will introduce FLEX-ES at a
technical level, discussing how it works and how it relates to other
hardware and emulator based systems. Specific capabilities and limitations
will be included. There will be a demonstration of a ThinkPad based zFrame
system running z/OS and z/VM.

The speaker will be Mr. Mike Hammock of Cornerstone Systems.

4:45 PM Free-for-All

Members will attempt to answer any reasonable VM or hardware related
questions. If you are having a problem and want to find out if others are
experiencing it, or you are installing new hardware or software and want to
find out what types of problems others have experienced, here is the place
to find out.

Members are encouraged to bring ideas for future presentations and speakers
to this meeting.
