Hi,

I would not have used qeth0 twice in the same chandev.conf, but I have read
in this mailing list that it will work. It just scares me to see two
entries a configuration file that look like they should conflict... but
this is not the real problem.

If your real devices FE04, FE05, and FE06 are part of a HiperSockets CHPID
installed in your processor, then you are probably encountering the same
problem Michael Lambert and others have reported with Virtual HiperSockets.
During initialization, the latest network driver uses a hardware feature
that might not be available on your processor/model. The following
messages:
> qeth: Trying to use card with devnos 0x620/0x621/0x622
> qdio : response upon setting indicators is 0x3.
point to the same problem others have reported with Virtual HiperSockets on
a Guest LAN.

You will need to follow the advice from Joerg Reuter posted January 5, 2005
to get to the prior network device driver where HiperSockets initialization
will work on your processor.

I believe the new HiperSockets driver code in 2.4.21-266 must have been
tested on processors that happened to have the necessary hardware feature
installed. As Joerg said, they are aware of the problem and will be
creating a new kernel package soon.

Regards,
Dennis
