If you make the change in the CP directory entry for the guest, the change doesn't take effect until you log off and back on to VM. If you use the CP "def stor" command, it _kills_ whatever OS is running in the guest, forcing a re-IPL. So, either way, you'll need to take the guest OS down gracefully and re-IPL it.
