Picking a Linux/390 distribution is going to be very different from site to site. You need to look at a number of things before deciding. The good thing is you can get free evaluation copies for them and take a look for yourself.
Things to consider: Are you going to be using products that are certified on one platform and not the other? Check out how maintenance/support is delivered, and what people think about both. Pay close attention to maintenance/support terms and conditions. You'll pay extra for 24x7x365. Do you have Linux already running on other hardware? If so, do you want to use the same distribution on your mainframe? Do you need bleeding edge hardware support?
