I just received my 5.1 order. Installation requires access to 18 track
tape (3480) and a Standalone IPL of the tapes. Our Linux LPAR has no
access to tapes.

Is there any way I can use these tapes from a z/OS system to load the VM
dasd -- does DFDSS understand the DDR tape format ? It seems that there
is a custom installer on the tape -- Can that be copied to dasd in any
fashion. Shared dasd between the linux partition and the z/os images is
not a problem.
We always used the offlineldr stuff to install Linux previously and I
missed this requirement.

(Waiting for either the DVD to arrive or start doing dynamic gens to
take hardware away from other users if this isn't possible).

Thanks
