His objection seems pretty reasonable: this isn't a putty-specific
item, this is a more general Windows widget. You want something that
you can register various windows with and fan out keyboard input to
each.
I also install Cygwin first thing. However, having done that, I never
use Putty again; instead I use rxvt with the Cygwin ssh (which is
openssh).
