Does it disconnect at the same time each place? My initial guess would be that you're running out of memory in the Linux guest. That may be a reasonable conclusion. Instead of using cpan, I 'wget'ed the tar.gz and installed normally. Everything went like a charm. The guest has 128M with a swap of 70MB. I guess perl+cpan+processes killed the session.
