I sounds like the system isn't to the point where the root file system is mounted read-write, and the kernel is having some kind of problem. It tries to write out an oops file and fails. I would back off the kernel to something older/more tested.

(zVM 4.4.0) I don't see any error messages during startup until it starts spewing out message modprobe: modprobe: cannot create /var/log/ksymoops/20050210.log Read-only file system and that is because the root fs "/" is mounted readonly and the other two filesystems aren't mounted at all. (/usr & /home) Anybody have any ideas why the filesystems aren't getting mounted r/w? I have tried mounting everything as many different ways as I can think of and no deeference. BTW /proc is empty!
