We have several customers running a similar service with 50K+ mailboxes, and one with more than 2M mailboxes. You need to design somewhat differently for this environment to get efficient usage. Single monolithic servers will behave badly in this environment; you want to do this in a more modular way. You also probably want to reconsider some of the tool choices; qmail performs poorly in this environment. > The load of the system raises to over 10 and more. Around 520 > processes are > started. Are you swapping to real disk or VDISK? Increasing the virtual storage will likely make things worse. > does anyone have a clue how many users such a system can handle? > or has anybody a similar configuration running? Drop me a note offlist and we can talk about this in detail. -- db ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
