Rick, This has come up several times on the list. As part of the parmfile you punch to the reader, you'll need a "ks=" parameter. Take a look at this page for the various options: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/custom-guide/s1-kickst art2-startinginstall.html
It's written for Red Hat 9, but it's pretty much applicable to RHEL as well. Mark Post -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Barlow Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 3:57 PM To: LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: How can I do Kickstart with Linux for S390 I am working on a process to build Linux virtual servers under VM. Our Unix/Linux guys want to be able to do Kickstart like they do on the i386 and power platforms. I can't find anything that tells me how to get the ramdisk boot image to prompt for the kickstart location like it does when I insert a CD-ROM into a workstation and get prompted to load in graphical mode or text mode. In case it makes a difference, I am working with RedHat Enterprise Linux AS 3. Can anyone point me to a reference for using kickstart with Linux for S390 (or zSeries)? ____________________________________ Rick Barlow Systems Engineering Consultant Nationwide Services Co., Technology Engineering and Operations Support, Mainframe, VM Support One Nationwide Plaza 3-25-02 Columbus OH 43215-2220 U.S.A Voice: (614) 249-5213 Fax: (614) 677-7681 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
