I got those messages during ipl (qeth module load). I've also tried to compile a new kernel patched with ibm fixes, but gcc-3.3 in sarge is not able to do this. I can compile the kernel with debian fixes (2.4.27, from dselect), but then I had only working hipersockets and no real interfaces :) They were detected, but there was no activity.. This kernel has also many dependency problems: for eg. I was able to compile only SMP-enabled kernel, and with HZ idle timer.. there were many warnings too.. I don't know what magic do I need to do with initrd to set up a 2.6.x kernel...
