>From what little I know of Linux, the wait state PSW does not have any
specific information encoded into it. In fact, it is likely that you'd
get a different PSW for the same problem if you were to recompile your
kernel with different parameters.

You should have gotten a "panic" message on the Linux console before the
hard wait. Unless, of course, Linux has not even been initialized due to
some "hardware" error before it was up. I put "hardware" in quotes
because it may not be a hardware error. It could be something wrong on a
filesystem (like a corrupted root fs or initrd or ???)
