What about the IUCV statements in the directory entries? Any anomalies?
You could change your linux /etc/HOSTNAME and reboot but I doubt that
it will fix your problem.

You could go to the CP TRACE table and see if your IUCVs are getting
through. Sounds like a definition problem somewhere.

On another note why not use guest lans?

Well it could be a problem in our network, but...

I'm cloning LINUX22 to LINUX25.
Linux22 is down.
DDR the volumes to Linux25.
IPL Linux25.
But IP doesn't come up. We get:
[1A..done iucv0
   iucv0 configuration: iucv-id-TCPIP
iucv0: connected with remote side TCPIP
   iucv0 IP/Peer: 192.168.99.222 / 205.235.227.74
[1A..doneSetting up service network . . . . . . . .
 ...done
Starting syslog servicesiucv0: Remote dropped connection
..done

192.168.99.222 is the IP address for Linux22. But with Linux22 being
down, I would have thought Linux25 would be able to use that address.

To check things futher out, I bought down Linux25 and then IPL'ed
Linux22. It came up fine with 192.168.99.222. Seems like the network
is fine.

So I bought down Linux22. Changed the VM directory to make Linux22,
Linux22a, make Linux25, Linux22 and then IPLed the new Linux22. It came
up fine!

This would somewhat imply that the VM guest name has some "something"
within Linux. I don't think that is the case.

So I bought down Linux22, renamed the directory entry back to Linux25
and IPL'ed. Sure enough, IP didn't come up.

?????

When I created this machine, I copied the Linux22 directory entry to
Linux25 and changed the userid. Also gave it new packs. I'm using iucv
communications so there are no VCTCA dependancies that need to know the
virtual machine name.

I wonder if SLES9 is playing a April Fools joke on me<G>.

Any hints?
