Thomas, My bad. I did not explain that the "echo" command was done on the z/OS system. I did it only to show what what the z/OS message would look like in the z/OS syslog. The setup on the z/OS system would direct all "local0.crit" messages, regardless of the source, to the z/OS syslog to be processed. The automation rule would need to be written to distinguish the possible sources and validate them. That is a weakness to this method - validating that the message actually came from an authorized source.
