Thanks all, that was my understanding too. I understood that it affected
only the pricing if we run z/VM in normal LPAR and run VSE / z/OS also in
that LPAR under z/VM
Did not want to wait until D/R to discover anything different....

If by "just an LPAR" you mean you get a LPAR defined with standard
engines instead of IFLs, then the answer is "nothing". z/VM doesn't care
what kind of processors it gets. You care more about storage, disk and
network resource configurations and addresses.
