I think my problem is the way I downloaded the distribution files. I want to
install from a pre-mounted file on my Linux system. A couple questions:
. What is the naming convention that SETUP uses to find these files? Must
they be in individual directories /A /AP etc.? Any restrictions on the
directory names?
. Are the .TXT files required?
. Does SETUP uncompress the tgz files?

This is all probably documented somewhere but I haven't been able to find
it.

Thanks, Chuck

When you issue a mount command, does it show your DASD volumes as being
mounted read-write?

Subject: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab

Hello:
I'm trying to install Slackware on a z800 partition - my first shot at
Linux. I ftp'd package "A" and tried to install it with SETUP. I get the
following
messages:
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
/usr//usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory
/usr/lib/setup/setup: cannot create /mnt/etc/fstab: No such file or
directory

I did the Target and swap setups ok I think - any ideas?
Thanks
