Chuck,

Yes, it should. That's partly why Slack/390 10.1 isn't out yet. The
packages have all been built, but there are a number of things in the
installer that need to be implemented or improved somewhat. Adding
support for network interfaces that don't follow the ethx name, for
example. I pushed 10.0 out the door, and tried to document as many of
the shortcomings in the release notes as I could in the "KNOWN PROBLEMS"
section.

I know, I know, nobody reads release notes much, but I couldn't think of
a better way to document it.

Mark:
I added the following to CHANDEV.CONF (which didn't exist) and now it
only looks for the three addresses defined and all appears ok:

 noauto
 qeth0,0x8804,0x8805,0x8806 add_parms,0x10,0x8804,0x8806,portname:LIN01

Should SETUP create this file (from PARMFILE) when installing the
system? Just wondering. Thanks for the help. Chuck

They're defined in your IOCDS. You really should just have the devices
for the LPAR defined, and nothing else. Barring that, I might be able
to walk you through what needs to be changed so that your system only
tries to use the one set of device numbers you want. It won't be fun,
but it should be doable.

This is an already installed system on an LPAR.
Where are the OSA ports defined and how can I restrict the ports that
are looked at during boot? Chuck

Chuck,

I haven't seen this before. Are you IPLing an already-installed system?
Or are you trying to do the install? Is this in an LPAR, or on z/VM?

During my 1st boot of Slackware 10 I receive:

Actually this is my second boot. I uncommented /sbin/modprobe qeth in
rc.modules to get OSA card support. We should be using ports
0x8804,0x8805,0x8806. I am able to login ok.

Has anyone seen this? I didn't have this problem booting from tape.

Thanks,
Chuck
