It seems that at the second level, the Linux guests (SLES 9) do not need
to have any addresses for Hipersockets. I have no DEDICATE or ATTACH for
hipersocket addresses for a linux guest. But the hipersockets connections
work fine. cat /proc/qeth shows:

devices CHPID interface cardtype port chksum
prio-q'ing rtr4 rtr6 fsz cnt
-------------------------- ----- ---------- -------------- ---- ------
---------- ---- ---- ----- -----
0.0.ec00/0.0.ec01/0.0.ec02 xEC hsi0 HiperSockets 0 sw
always_q_2 no no 24k 16
0.0.0064/0.0.0065/0.0.0066 x3B eth0 GuestLAN QDIO 0 sw
always_q_2 no no 64k 16

I queried both virtual and physical EC00-EC03. Nada!

I do have DEDICATEs in the z/vm level2 guest like so:

dedicate ec00 ed18
dedicate ec01 ed19
dedicate ec02 ed1a

Am I missing something? Is the Linux guest detecting automatically and
using the first available address? In fact this works whether 2nd level
TCPIP is up or down. The 2nd level TCPIP uses EC00-EC03 (virtual).

I am going to test this for the first level too.
