Yes....I've did this a couple of weeks ago and the APPENDIX F instructions in the RHEL Install guide worked fine...BUT this was an LPAR situation....
I've got a couple of followup questions...maybe you'll find this as you work with RHEL4. Where does RHEL4 store the static route table? Also, now do you DELETE a 2nd interface. One caveat about RHEL4...we tried using the system-config-network to configure a 2nd interface and I ended up without any network! Had to fix it via sed.... Don't know if it was the script or user error... I am trying to add an eth1. I have a other QDIO triplets defined besides the primary triplet being used by eth0. For example, the VM user ID name TEAMA has virtual device 1600 as the starting device address of a VSWITCH NIC. The kernel recognizes them as they show up as directories under /sys/bus/ccw/drivers/qeth However, if I echo a "1" to /sys/bus/ccw/drivers/qeth/0.0.1600/online, the value remains 0. Similarly the "chccwdev -e" command fails: # chccwdev -e 0.0.1600 Setting device 0.0.1600 online Failed >From a 3270 session, the following shows the status of the device: #cp q 1600-1602 00: OSA 1600 ON NIC 1600 UNIT 000 SUBCHANNEL = 001 00: 1600 QDIO-ELIGIBLE QIOASSIST-ELIGIBLE 00: OSA 1601 ON NIC 1600 UNIT 001 SUBCHANNEL = 001 00: 1601 QDIO-ELIGIBLE QIOASSIST-ELIGIBLE 00: OSA 1602 ON NIC 1600 UNIT 002 SUBCHANNEL = 001 00: 1602 QDIO-ELIGIBLE QIOASSIST-ELIGIBLE #cp q vswitch vsw1 det ... 00: Adapter Owner: TEAMA NIC: 1600 Name: UNASSIGNED #cp q vswitch vsw1 accesslist ... TEAMA (is in the list) Any help will be appreciated.
