SE = Support Element (The Laptop used in Mainframes to manage the
complex)
CE = Customer Engineer ( The person who comes to fix the Hardware
problem, when you have one)

An SE is the software equivalent of a CE.

SE = Systems Engineer.

I think they are nearly extinct now as I haven't had a verifiable
sighting of one since 1984.

They used to get you copies of PUT tapes, help you install software,
help gather doc for APARs, and file them, and all sorts of other helpful
things.

They weren't marketing types, their main function was to answer
questions and assist the customer.
They would even write a program or two if required.

Ah yes, the "good ol' days!"
