Arty,

in addition to my earlier posting
(http://www2.marist.edu/htbin/wlvtype?LINUX-VM.55722)
and in order to avoid havoc:

The "problem" you refer to is a correct but unnecessary
(because unnecessarily alarming) message - nothing else.

This message appears more often, or more easily since we
have fixed a _real_ problem - which, alas, _was_ related to
data underruns.

Since - as you have pointed out - the message gained its
dubious prominence somewhen between -261 and -281,
one can figure that the _fix_ for the _real_ (data underrun)
problem, and, therewith, the unfortunate message, have been
picked up by SUSE somewhere between -261 and -281.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / with kind regards

Hi,

That SCSI underrun problem surfaced just after the 2.4 "-261" kernel
level.
I have several "-261" guests using SCSI and they do not have the problem.
I have a guest at the "-281" level that has the problem, and I am certain
that
at least 1 earlier level (than "-281") also exhibited the problem. So,
somewhere between "-261" and "-281", the problem was introduced.

Recent 2.4 kernels ("-292" SP4) still have the problem. It has not been
fixed.

Cheers,
Arty
