Test tools can be very expensive. If you need the features of high
end test tools (Mercury, Rational), consider finding a test
consultant who will execute test plans using their own licences (you
effectively pay just a rental fee). It all depends on your test
requirements and budget, as an example I've seen this done for about
$15-20k US for an Internet banking application (and its fast). The
tool vendors can probably put you in touch with consultants who do
this (as they have to sanction the licensing) - suspect this could be
limited to higher end consultants.

Alternatively you could just script your own custom test harness
under Linux to drive multiple concurrent users, and use standard
Oracle performance monitoring tools to measure the results.

Loadrunner is one such tool - try googling that.

We installed Oracle 10g under SLES9 and zVM 5.1 with the intention of
consolidating 2 PSeries Oracle servers. It would be nice to
import the
databases to 10g and stress test them on their new home. But
I am unsure what tools are available to automate lots of
users making lots of requests. Does anyone know what
tools/options exist? Note, this is a one time test so I
doubt we would want to purchase something.
