Last I checked, fdasd only supported "native Linux" and "Linux swap" partition IDs. I've never used anything other than native Linux partitions for my LVM use. If YaST on s390[x] is requiring that particular partition type, it's a bug that should be filed with SUSE.

When I select LVM in the Partitioner I get a message that tells me I need at least 1 partition of type 0x8e. Says that in most cases you can select create, do not format and set the partition ID - tried this but do not see how to set the ID. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.
