Actually the IBM (or Connectivity Systems) TCP/IP stack does provide native SSL support on VSE. The Barnard Software TCP/IP stack does not provide native support, but does use an SSL Appliance.

Hi all, We have a banking client that's a large VSE client (no z/OS). They have a requirement to secure their ftp and tn3270 traffic to their VSE systems, but the VSE TCP/IP stack (IBM's or Bernard's) doesn't support that. The goal is to have the end user initiate a secure tn3270 session or a secure ftp session, and have Linux on an IFL handle the VSE end of the encryption, and forward on a vanilla ftp or tn3270 session to VSE via a Hipersocket connection. From the end user perspective, it should appear as if VSE does have Middle hops (having the user ftp to Linux, then from Linux to VSE; or having the user telnet to Linux then tn3270 to VSE) are not a choice... Has anyone done anything like this before? Anyone have any suggestions on the "simplest" way to try and do something like that? Thanks for any thoughts...
