In addition to Carsten's reply, I'll add that using Linux/390 for running a KDE desktop is an insane use of mainframe MIPs, storage, and bandwidth. Use Intel Linux for that. Even on Intel, I have yet to install KDE or GNOME or even X on any *server* I've put into production.
