I experienced the same problem on an MP3000 in an lpar. I installed via FTP just fine. The problem occurred when I tried to boot the new linux for the first time. The problem that I had and verified by IBM is that the LCS driver is broken in lpar mode. This was not a problem under VM however. I notified Suse in December of 2004 and IBM in January of 2005. I am still waiting for a fix.

Mike, We are having the same problem. SuSE support has been unable to figure it out and we have a ticket open with IBM. They didn't have a Flex system so they are setting one up now though it may be a couple of weeks before they get back to us. The problem we experienced was that after the IPL from disk SuSE seemed to have lost track of the NIC. We tried using SMB and NFS for the first part of the install and that seemed to go fine until the reboot.
