I do this for all my Linux volumes. After using the v option to change the
volume label, use w to write out the change. You'll get a couple of error
messages and a plea to reboot. I normally do reboot, but I've never noticed
any problems when I don't. You can do this on volumes with mounted
filesystems, including root.

Guys,
    this is the question.
With SLES9 you cannot change the Volume Identifier during the installation via
Yast so the VOLID/LABEL will be, for example, 0X737a where 737a is the UCB.
Now... I need to change the volume ID via fdasd (option v) also for the boot
device. Is it possible to do that??? I'm asking this because I know that is
possible only for unmounted filesystems!!!!
