The mksles9root script was written to create an *install* tree, not
necessarily a *patch update* path. You can certainly create an install
tree using mksles9root and install a system that will be SLES9, SP2.

However, I'm not sure that is how to upgrade a vanilla SLES system to an
SP level. In the past I have used yast => Software => Patch CD update to
upgrade a vanilla SLES level to a certain SP level, but then I have always
pointed to a loopback-mounted Service Pack CD, not the install tree. I
have done this with SLES8 but never with SLES9. And as I recall there was
something magic about naming the mount points cd1/, cd2/, etc. because
then the patch process would find the additional CD(s).

It would be good if SOMEONE FROM SUSE COULD CLARIFY this - when upgrading
from a vanilla SLES system to an SP level, should you point at an
integrated install tree or just the mounted SP CDs? Thanks.

Hope this helps.
